It’s not surprising to discover that Austin has a very lively cafe culture. This seems like the very perfect city where the coffee shops would be filled with alternative types from all walks of life, enjoying spending part of a day, or sometimes all of it, whiling away the time over cups of freshly brewed coffees, and discussing art, politics, and culture. There’s a lot to talk about in Austin, and I’m always excited when I have any excuse to go. There are great places to stay, and plenty of exciting, or relaxing, things to do all over the city. Some visitors like to take in the museums and galleries, spend some time outdoors by the lake, or enjoying any number of local attractions.

I like to try to fit in with the locals, and I always feel like I’ve succeeded in my mission when someone asks me for directions. Some cities make me nervous about directions, but here it’s a chance to get to talk to someone new, and there’s a sense that even if the directions are wrong, it won’t matter all that much. The locals seem to be very particularly devoted to a pace of life that is just a little bit easier, and makes a conscious effort to make room for multiple levels of randomness. Wandering the streets is always fun, and it’s even better when the wandering ends at a place like the Spiderhouse Cafe.

This coffee shop has all the usual things that a great independent coffee house can offer, but with some very distinct Austin touches. For one thing, it’s very reasonable. They occasionally have unbelievable deals, like drip coffee for a dollar in the morning. It’s also open early and they stay open late, until 2am. This gives me the opportunity to see the culture in action. The morning shift might have some of the same people from the night before, but chances are, they won’t be in again until later. Later, however, it turns from coffee house to indie pub, with live art and free movies. You can get tips about local bands playing the eclectic and indefinable Austin sound, or you can just hole up hear and hear what might be playing in the house.

In this day and age, art programs are being cut from schools at an alarming rate. Some culturally savvy school administrators are investing in ‘artist in residency’ programs, in order to ensure that their students receive not only a well rounded and balanced education, but the opportunity to explore the creative side of life. The side of life that often times pulls people through. Baltimore is one such city, on the whole…a city that was built by people who have survived hard times, for people who continue to do so now in modern times, a city that values history, cultural history and artistic history, the national anthem was written in the harbor, so music-poetry-dance-and all of the arts are not lost in this town.

Walk into any Baltimore classy restaurant or pub, and chances are that there will be live music or theatre on stage. “Arts Every Day” is an organization that will go into public schools to ensure that art becomes an everyday event in the lives of the children of Baltimore. They believe that art and cultural awareness is fundamental to intellectual and emotional development. The artists with “Arts Every Day” form partnerships with the schools and with many of the historical, cultural, artistic and scientific institutions that are located throughout the city of Baltimore.

The program right now, focuses on the middle school years, and takes pride in the fact that all of their artists are highly skilled and well trained. Since so many programs in the schools have been cut, this is a great way for the children to still receive an integrated and a thorough education. Art and creativity influences everything, from mathematics to architecture, and from scientific theory to business practices. This is an organization that is doing quite a service to the not only the children of Baltimore, but to the future history of the thinkers and the people of tomorrow.

Ask anyone what they would like from their job, and most people will state that they want to be treated with respect, and kindness. Seems simple right? But if it were that simple, there would be no need for the books and the courses on just how to do so. This is just part of the everyday life for those working for, and working with the TransGlobe Property Management team. Not only do they treat one another in such away, but all of those with whom they do business. This creates a sense of community and well being that is not often found in the business world of today. All of the ideas and the opinions of the staff and the rental customers are taken under consideration, and this group awareness makes their properties a bit hard to get into, as no one ever seems to leave. Whether renting for living quarters, or a work space, the staff is there when you need them, whether it is to fix some leaking plumbing or to set up a celebration in the courtyard.

This kind of welcome makes taking a move, to a new city in Canada or simply across town, a fun and exciting event. I was amazed at how after just a few short days, working in the studio space I was renting, that one of the staff stopped his work on the landscape and asked me how my paintings were coming along. I’d never even mentioned that I was a painter, but he had seen me carrying in my canvases and just asked. This kind of recognition from the people you are renting from, not only makes you feel good, but the next time I hear of someone needing to rent, I will suggest to them TransGlobe Property Management. They really have no need to advertise, as word of mouth really does significantly outweigh the kind of advertising that you can pay for. This is one company, than can truly be counted on.

The quality of life in Canada is very high, and it’s one of the nicest countries in the world in which to live. This comes from a very concentrated effort from generations and generations of people living here, looking for ways to make the future better for the next generation. At TransGlobe Property Management, we’ve always been committed to the life of the community. Our work is in the neighborhoods where you work and live, and we’ve learned that the neighborhoods have histories that need to be recognized. They also hold enormous potential, and can only continue to prosper with the efforts of the people there, and that’s why we’ve been involved in community service, in order to do our part.

We have a debt to these communities, and we like to recognize simple actions that we might take to make things better. So you might see one of our Smart cars, as part of the fleet of TransGlobe Property Management. We recently switched over, after 15 years of service in Canada’s neighborhoods, in order to help reduce our own footprints on Canada’s glorious landscape. These cars have ultra low emissions, and they are fantastically fuel efficient. They are also quite stylish, too! It’s just one way we can give back to the communities that have given so much to us over the years. We have thousands of properties available at any given time, for both business and residential uses. Our database is extremely user friendly, so it’s easy find something in your neighborhood. This is just the beginning of a relationship with us, and we look forward to serving you all along the way. We answer to service calls efficiently and promptly, and we enjoy watching communities grow. We’ve been working and living in Canada’s neighborhoods ourselves for many years, and there’s no place we’d rather be.
